Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right…

Song of the Day – February 27, 2012

Song: “Turn Me On”

Artist: David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj

Country of Origin: France/United States

Song of the Day Archive

Yes, here is another David Guetta song. What can I say? This French DJ is blowing up the airwaves and you have to admit are very addicting. I don’t what he does to create such amazing electrified beats, but he manages to do so. No matter if I was in Ghana or USA, his songs were being blasted through the stereos and they still are. I’m not a fan of every song he comes out with. It really depends on which artist he decides to collaborate with on the particular song. They produce magic when it is the right mixture, and I must say he made the right choice in Nicki Minaj. Since Minaj can rap and sing, her flavor is completely right for Guetta’s music. It is obvious that Minaj’s singing vocals have been auto-tuned and synthesized to fit the style of music, but she doesn’t need much help at all. She is a solid vocalist and lyricist, and her pure talent shines through this song. With Guetta’s unique rhythms, this partnership is magical and purely electric.

Also the music video is quite interesting and I’m not sure I understand it fully. It took me to understand Guetta’s music videos, but with time, I will figure it out. Hopefully, all of you may have a better understanding than I do. Anyway…

Miguel Figueiras – Phoenix (Demo)

thefirestarter08:

This is “Phoenix.” I’ve been trying to produce this song for months but I ended up just using the first demo I made of it, it’s just me and my guitar. Well, a couple of layered “me”s and a couple layered guitars. I really just wanted this song to be about the lyrics because I’m really proud of them, and of this song in particular.

Song of the Day – February 19, 2012

Song: “Pon de Floor”

Artist: Major Lazer featuring VYBZ Kartel

Country of Origin: USA/United Kingdom/Jamaica

Song of the Day Archive

“Wait a minute, doesn’t this song sound familiar?” That is the question I asked myself when I first heard this song. I thought I was slightly losing my mind when I heard it because the song is quite unique and no other song sounded like this. However, I was wrong. I listened to Beyonce’s new song “Run the World (Girls)” and I realized it had the same beat and hook at this song. The mystery was solved and I could move on to the next song, but of course in true SGT fashion, I did not. The song is quite addicting and in a weird way it can hypnotized you. I felt the need to dance in robotic-like moves and for me that is quite weird. Nevertheless, the song is very good and throughout you can hear traditional Jamaican dancehall music streamed through the background. I like the interesting mixture of techno music, repetitive lyrics, and dancehall music. It is different from any other song currently receiving airplay.

Because of uniqueness, this song deserves to be the Song of the Day. In addition to including today’s song, I included Beyonce’s version of the song so you can notice the similarities and differences of each song. Music is ever evolving and mainstream music is pointing in the direction that this song is taking. You better hop onto this trend while you can!

Enjoy the Song of the Day!

Song:”Without You”

Artist: David Guetta featuring Usher

Country of Origin: France/USA

Because it is Valentine’s Day and there is so much love in the air, I tried to find a song about love. Well, there is too many love songs. So I tried to find something on an international level and I came across this one. I chosen this song because it is a dance love song. Instead of slow dancing on Valentine’s Day, you should be grooving with your honey or whoever your Valentine is. David Guetta is known worldwide and his songs are instant club hits with their addictive beats and rhythms, and he always gets the best performers out there now to sing the vocals. In this case, he chose Usher, which I thought was a great choice because he has the vocal range to do justice to the song. The song starts out like a ballad then it speeds into a full dance song. It gives you the best of both worlds. Also the video is awesome because it shows the song can reach various people in places like Thailand, South Africa, Brazil and the USA. I think this is a great song about love and it provides you with a great beat to lead your significant other out to the dance floor.

Whether you are in your living room, bedroom or a club, start playing this song and dance with someone special! Happy Valentine’s Day and enjoy the Song of the Day!
